The Mid-Atlantic Christian University Mustangs has named Jason Goetz as the first Head Coach for the baseball team.
Coach Goetz has served as an assistant coach for 8 years at the high school level with the last 5 being at Perquimans High School in nearby Hertford, North Carolina. During his time at Perquimans he helped guide the Pirates to multiple state tournament appearances and an overall record of 103-28. In addition he established and coached the Hertford Pirates Jr Legion baseball program.
Goetz played college ball as a pitcher for the College of the Albemarle helping the team to a 22-21 record. Following his time at COA, he completed his degree at Southern New Hampshire University receiving his degree in Business Management, with a concentration in Sports Management.
Athletic Director Andy Meneely stated, "We are excited to have a guy with local roots and a lot of energy to start this program. This area has a good brand of high school baseball and it has been unfortunate that the colleges around here have not been able to provide a place recently for kids to represent their home town near their home town. We look forward to building that program."
Coach Jason Goetz on his appointment as the new Head Coach at MACU, "I am extremely thankful for the opportunity to lead the Mustang baseball program. This region has a strong group of area high school baseball programs, and those kids deserve an opportunity to play at the next level close to home. I would like to send a special thanks out to Coach Roberson at Perquimans County High School, for allowing me to help coach at a tradition rich program, and for everything he has done to help prepare me for this opportunity. I look forward to being a part of the MACU family, and representing the university in the best way possible."
The MACU Baseball team begins it's first season of collegiate competition in the spring of 2019. For more information or to find out how you can join the Mustangs check out www.gomacumustangs.com
