The waiting continued as the rain came down and MACU Baseball would have to wait one more day. Saturday came, the rain went away, and for the first time in the history of athletics at Mid-Atlantic Christian University, the Mustangs stepped on to the baseball diamond as collegiate competitors. Although the final result would go down as a 6-0 loss to NAIA member USC Beaufort, by every other measure the Mustangs ended the game with nothing less than a victory.
A Game of Firsts by the Numbers(& Letters):
BB - In the top of the third Christian Moody became the first Mustang to reach base with a walk.
2B - A shot down the left field by Hunter Hall marked both the first hit and first extra base hit in program history.
K - Facing his second batter of the afternoon starting pitcher Caleb Whitley registered not only the first out in program history but also the first strikeout.
5-3 - A hard hit ball to third baseman Will Warren would lead to a great throw to first baseman Hall and the programs first assist on an out.
The Mustangs return to the field on February 8 as they take on Glenville State in the first game of a home double header beginning at 1pm. For the latest scores and updates go to www.gomacumustangs.com
