MACU golfers Matt Cooper and Ryan Kelley set out for Rocky Mount, NC looking to test their skills in the Don Scalf Invitational hosted by North Carolina Wesleyan. The invitational featured 48 golfers representing 10 schools including Methodist University, Averett College, and the North Carolina State Wolfpack of the ACC. Despite the strong field, both Cooper and Kelley posted their best rounds of the season thus far with Cooper carding a 4 over par 76 in round 2 to complete his score of 153 and Kelley just one stroke behind in round 2 with a 5 over par 77 and an overall score of 156.
The Don Scalf Invitational, named for the legendary NC Wesleyan Coach and Athletic Director, was played over two days on September 24-25 at the Belmont Lake Golf Club in Rocky Mount.
