For the first time in program history the MACU Lady Mustangs had a shot at true post season play, and they did not disappoint coming away with a 68-56 win over the host team, Trinity Baptist College in the Bible College WNIT.
Both teams struggled to get going early in the game as a defensive battle would lead MACU to a 22-10 lead at the half. The 10 points are the fewest points the Lady Mustangs have given up in a half this season. The second half would be a different story as both teams were able to get going offensively led by MACU Senior Tierra Lester with 21 points that included a 9-9 performance from the free throw line to go along with 8 rebounds. Junior Talethia Alexander connected on 5 three pointers for her 15 points while freshman Cierra Cook had 17 points and 6 assists.
The Lady Mustangs return to action March 2nd for their final game of the season when they take on the #1 seeded Trinity College of Florida for the WNIT Championship. The game will be lived streamed through the TBC Eagles starting at 8 pm. For more information on ways you can support MACU Athletics or to be recruits by the Mustangs, go to www.gomacumustangs.com.
