Lady Mustangs Fall Short in WNIT Championship Game

The Lady Mustangs, playing in the first ever Small Bible College WNIT tournament championship, fell to Trinity College of Florida on Friday night by a score of 94-55.  A close first quarter would see the Lady Mustangs trailing by just 10 points however a strong offensive second quarter would stake the Lady Tigers to a lead they would never relinquish enroute to the win.

For the game the Mustangs were led in scoring by freshman Cierra Cook with 17 points, 6 rebounds and 3 assists while Junior Talethia Alexander had 13 points connecting on 4 threes, including a four point play in the third quarter.  Despite playing much of the game with foul trouble, Senior Tierra Lester finished with 7 rebounds, 6 points and 2 blocked shots in her final game as a Lady Mustang.

"This team has shown a lot of perseverance at the end of the season and it shows the special type of players that we have here.  I am extremely proud of these ladies because they never stopped working and were able to come to the WNIT and get the programs first ever win in the postseason over Trinity Baptist College and then earn the right to be named the Tournament Runner Up." - Coach Troxell
