Mustangs Sign Alaskan Guard Townes

The Mid-Atlantic Christian University Women's Basketball program has announced the signing of Carrington Townes for the 2019-20 season.

Carrington is a 2019 graduate from Bartlett High School in Anchorage, Alaska.  While at MACU she plans to pursue a degree in Biology with the end result to one day become a Physical Therapist.

A senior captain for the Golden Bears, Townes helped lead her team to a 23-8 overall record and a runner up finish in the Alaska State Championship game.  The 5'2 point guard scored a season high 10 points in a win over Service High School and shot 40% from the floor for the season.

"To my knowledge, Carrington is the first recruit to ever come our way from Alaska in any sport, which is really great for our program.  However, what's really exciting is the type of player we are getting.  She is a winner, who is hardworking, coachable and willing to sacrifice her game to make her team better, all qualities we look for in a point guard.  She also comes from a program that built itself up to the level of competing for state championships, so she knows what it takes to win.  Not to be minimized are her high academic standards, added to her strong desire to be at MACU.  That makes her a perfect fit for us and I am looking forward to working with her this season." - Coach Troxell
