Maclin Becomes a Mustang!

Maclin Becomes a Mustang!

Leah Maclin, flanked by family and her Victory Christian School Head Coach Jessica Dwire, made it official by signing to become the newest MACU Mustangs volleyball player this past Thursday in Chesson Gym.

Leah was a 4 year varsity player for Victory Christian here in Elizabeth City, NC - continuing the recent run of local talent headed to MACU.  She is 5' 3" (she says 5' THREE AND A QUARTER, with her infectious smile and laugh) and was the starting Middle Hitter, but played multiple positions for the Eagles.

Coach Dwire offered up this glowing praise about Maclin,
"Leah's natural leadership abilities and her amazing work ethic will make her a great fit on the MACU volleyball team as they build their program. She leads by example and is a great motivator, always encouraging her teammates. Her enthusiasm is contagious, and she is able to bring out the best in her teammates. MACU is very blessed to have a player not only with these skills but with great character on and off the court."

Below are some of Leah's Senior year Stats:
.451 kill average
183 kills in 29 games
Averaged 14 attacks per game
.823 serving accuracy
86 aces in 29 games

AD Alligood echoed some of Coach Dwire's thoughts:
"We as a University and athletic program are excited about Leah becoming a MACU Mustang!  Her parents have both attended MACU and have been huge fans of our program - their family has already been a part of our family and we love watching it grow with Leah's addition.  She already understands the culture of MACU and her commitment to the team will be a blessing.  We believe she will mix in with our current team extremely well."

Maclin's ability to excel at multiple positions will be a welcomed luxury for Coach Paul Pipkin!
