The MACU Lady Mustangs headed into the 2019 USCAA National Tournament looking to make the most of their opportunity and got started fast as they took down Bluefield State College in their first match of the day by a score of 3-0. On a day when just participating in the tournament was a program first, the win achieved something that no previous MACU women's volleyball team had done, a post season victory.
Senior Mallary Brogden led the way for the Lady Mustangs tallying 9 service aces and 8 kills while sophomore Emily Rios registered 19 assists to set the table for the teams hitters in the win.
In their second match of the day the Lady Mustangs would fight hard but ultimately fall to the second seeded Bengals from the University of Maine Fort Kent. Against the Bengals, Rios registered 17 assists while senior Gabrielle Howlett had 9 digs in the match.
The Lady Mustangs return to action to take on the Conquistadors from Florida National University at 1:30 pm on Court 4 at the Virginia Beach Field House. Live stats can be found at www.gomacumustangs.com
