Men's Basketball Finishes Strong to Secure EMAC Win

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

Playing the first game of a tough back to back with Eastern Metro Athletic Conference opponents, the Mustang's Men's Basketball team came away with a win by a final score of 91-81 over Clinton College.

A back and forth first half would see the Mustangs take a 3 point lead into half time on the strength of a buzzer beating three by sophomore guard Jabari Richardson who would finish the game with 12 points and 5 assists.  After leading by as many as 17 in the second half MACU would have to face a late push from the Golden Bears that would see the lead cut to just 5 with under a minute to go in the contest.  The Mustangs however, would finish the game strong making 10 straight free throws in the final minute, punctuated by a dunk from junior forward Malik Galloway to finish out the game.

The story throughout the game was the Mustangs hot shooting as they connected on season best percentages of 45.5% from beyond the three point line and 77.3% from the free throw line.  Kevin Fletcher led 5 Mustangs in double figures with 22 points, while Galloway registered his second double double of the season with 20 points to go along with 18 rebounds and 4 blocks.

The Men's basketball team returns to action January 25 in Chesson Gym as they take on the Wildcats from Johnson and Wales(NC) at 3 pm.  For the latest stats and scores check out www.gomacumustangs.com
