Second Half Rally Falls Short

Box Score

Playing from behind for much of the evening, the Mustangs of Mid-Atlantic Christian University used a big second half run to cut the lead to 6 with just under 3 minutes to play. However MACU was unable to get any closer as the Owls of Warren Wilson College put the game away late to win by a final score of 77-66.

In the first half the Mustangs struggled to find a rhythm on offense shooting just 24% from the field while the hot shooting Owls were able to go into the lockerroom with an 18 point lead.  The second half would be a different story as Sophomore Talik Totten energized the team early with back to back 3s to start the second half and a renewed defensive effort would see the Mustangs able to chip away at the lead before ultimately running out of time.

Totten led all scorers with 21 points on 8 of 12 shooting and Kevin Fletcher chipped in 16 points while senior Malik Galloway added 12 points and 8 rebounds in his final game for the Mustangs.  Brent Davis led 5 Owls in double figures with 14 points to go along with 8 rebounds while Demarco Jackson had the games loan double double with 11 points and 12 rebounds.
