The Men's Basketball team hit the road and turned a game of firsts into their first win of the season. Heading into the game the Mustangs were being led by first year Head Coach
Charles Sims while also seeking their first win in program history over an NAIA opponent. After 40 minutes of action the Mustangs left the floor with a hard fought 82-74 win over Montreat, handing Coach Sims his first collegiate victory and securing a piece of history for themselves.
Throughout the game the Mustangs used a strong defense to force the Cavaliers into 15 turnovers and dominated the glass with a 37-27 advantage. The team also suffocated Montreat shooters holding them to just 4.8% shooting from beyond the three point line, finishing 1-21 as a team.
Senior
Talik Totten led a balanced scoring effort for the Mustangs with 16 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Four other Mustangs joined Totten in double figures with
Jahiem Hinton adding 15, and the trio of
Jajour Lambert, Noah Richardson-Keys and Jalen Jones each scoring 14.
The Mustangs return to action November 10 as they travel to take on NCAA Division 1 William and Mary. The game will be live streamed on
