ELIZABETH CITY, N.C. -- The Mid-Atlantic Christian University Department of Athletics in conjunction with the Office of the President at Mid-Atlantic Christian University is excited to announce the addition of softball beginning Fall of 2022, with the first season of competition commencing in the Spring of 2023.
"When looking to add an additional athletic offering, we wanted to offer a sport that would enhance our student experience. With the addition of baseball in 2020, it made logical sense that the next sport to offer at MACU would be softball. We have a great prep softball scene in northeast North Carolina and we know that the students we can recruit will be successful on the field, in the classroom, and will be the best representation of MACU after graduating," said John Maurice, Mid-Atlantic Christian University President.
"This is an exciting time at Mid-Atlantic Christian University and to be a part of athletics. We are growing our athletic program in order to meet the demands of a growing interest in softball," stated Mid-Atlantic Christian University's Athletic Director,
Andy Meneely. "This is a great opportunity for Mid-Atlantic Christian University to provide a sport that has such a great following in our area."
MACU will continue to compete in the USCAA and will play a modified independent schedule in 2023, with a full schedule coming in 2024. MACU is actively recruiting students to fill the roster for the inaugural season in 2023. If you are interested or know someone who is, please fill out the
