Mustangs Name Six to NSAC All-Conference

The New South Athletic Conference has announced the 2022-23 All-Conference Team for both Men's and Women's basketball.

The Men's basketball team is represented by senior guard Talik Totten.  A first team selection, Totten led the Mustangs in scoring, averaging 19.2 points per game shooting 53% from the floor, including 39% from beyond the arc.  In 2022-23 Totten had three games scoring over 30 points and scored in double figures in 20 of the Mustangs 22 contests.    Coming in as a second team selection is freshmen Noah Richardson-Keys.  The standout freshmen averaged 13.9 points per game while adding 6.8 rebounds per contest and collected 43 steals on the season.  Rounding out the honorees for the Mustangs is sophomore Jeremiah Dickerson.  An honorable mention selection, Dickerson averaged 10.5 points per game and 5.3 rebounds, while scoring a career high 20 points against BLC.

Women's basketball was also represented by a trio of players beginning with senior forward Judea Edmonds.  A defensive anchor for the Lady Mustangs, Edmonds collected 19 blocks and 20 steals while breaking the Lady Mustangs record for rebounds in a career.  The second team selection averaged 8.1 points and a team leading 9.6 rebounds per game.  Joining her on the second team is senior guard Kayla Kent.   Kent, was second in both scoring and rebounding for the Lady Mustangs, with averages of 11.4 points and 8.3 rebounds per game while collecting 3 double doubles during the season which included a career high 15 rebounds in a win over Regent.  The final selection for the Lady Mustangs is senior guard Carrington Townes from Anchorage, Alaska.  Named as an honorable mention selection, Townes averaged a career high 9.7 points per game to go along with 2.5 assists and 3 rebounds per game.  Townes scored a career high 21 points against Trinity Washington connecting on a program record 15 free throws in a single game (15-18 for 83%).

The Men's Basketball team returns to action as the 2-seed in the New South Athletic Conference Tournament Friday February 24 at Apprentice School as they take on the winner of the NSAC quarterfinal matchup between Christendom College and Virginia Peninsula.  The Women's Basketball team has concluded their season with a winning record at 7-6.
