LAURINBURG, NC -- On Saturday November 2, the MACU Men's Basketball Team traveled to Laurinburg, NC to play against St. Andrews University. The Mustangs showed off in the first half and managed to take a 7 point lead by half time. By the second half, the Knights caught up and a battle for the lead began. The teams went back and forth and caused the lead to change 7 different times. Ultimately, the Mustangs prevailed and were able to pull off a victory, 78-75.
The Mustangs worked as a unit to pull off the victory but one Mustang in particular contributed to over a quarter of the points. Junior
Janus Shepherd scored 24 of the 78 points. He also managed to get 4 rebounds and 2 steals. Following in points was Senior
Carlos Raven who scored 13 points and 8 rebounds. Junior Keith Shakes Jr and Freshman
Elijah Dias both scored 9 points and collectively had 5 rebounds.
The Mustangs will continue their season on the road. They have a scrimmage against Hampton University on Monday, November 4th starting at 7 pm. Good Luck Mustangs!
