ELIZABETH CITY, NC -- On Monday February 3rd, the MACU Men's basketball team faced off against the Carolina Bruins. The Mustangs kept a solid lead through the first half but the Bruins came out fighting for the second half. Within the last few minutes, the Mustang's 20 point lead turned into a 2 point lead. Despite the pressure, the Mustangs prevailed and claimed victory.
Leading the Mustangs to victory was sophomore
Stewart Clough, who scored 17 points. Following in Clough's footsteps were juniors
Keith Shakes Jr. and
Janus Shepherd who each scored 14 points.
Head Coach
Charles Sims commented on the game saying, "This was another big game for us. We knew what needed to be done and the team stepped up and delivered. We recently has a lot of injuries and sicknesses so I was happy to see everyone back on the court playing as a team. Being tested this early in the season has definitely prepared us for our future games against tough opponents."
The Mustangs will be playing again on Tuesday February 4th at Elizabeth City State Univeristy. Good Luck Mustangs!
