A Word from VP Bane Angles

The 2025-2026 academic year is about to begin. This week, we welcomed our fall
athletes back on campus. Last year was a wonderful year for MACU athletics. Three teams (golf,
men's basketball, and baseball) made it to the national tournament. Academically, our student-
athletes performed exceptionally in the classroom. Spiritually, six student-athletes were baptized,
the Fellowship of Student Athletes flourished, and spiritual growth was prioritized by many.
The positive momentum of last year is continuing into this new academic year. We have
added women's bowling as a fall sport, and women's softball will relaunch this spring. Our
faculty, staff, coaches, and alumni are excited to encourage and equip our men and women
athletes to be successful spiritually, athletically, academically, and emotionally.
In 1 Corinthians 9, the Apostle Paul uses the imagery of athletes running a race and
boxing to illustrate the need for self-control and discipline. For collegiate student athletes to be
successful, it takes tremendous self-discipline to maintain the level of excellence needed on the
athletic playing field, in the classroom, and life. We covet your support in prayer, in words of
encouragement, and financial support to equip these dedicated student athletes for success in all they do.
