Fourth Quarter Comeback Propels Mustangs to the Win

Box Score

Through three quarters Christendom looked like a team in complete control, outscoring Mid-Atlantic Christian each quarter in route to an 11 point lead heading into the final quarter.  The Lady Mustangs refused to quit however as they tightened up on defense and limited the Crusaders to just 9 points over the final 10 minutes while catching fire on the offensive end to erase the deficit and claim a 5 point win, 63-58.

The win is the largest fourth quarter comeback for the Lady Mustangs in program history and snapped a 3 game winning streak for the Crusaders.  Freshman Amanda Lemons led MACU with 17 points connecting on 5 triples as well as a layup that gave the Lady Mustangs their first lead since early in the first quarter with about 3 minutes to play.  Cierra Cook added 16 points including a perfect day from the free-throw line going 7-7.  On the day the Lady Mustangs combined to connect on 10 threes accounting for almost half of the teams points while shooting nearly 40% from beyond the three point line.

The Lady Mustangs return to the court looking to make it two wins in a row on Friday February 9 as they take on Appalachian Bible College in Mount Hope, WV.
