Lady Mustangs Return with a Win

Box Score

Playing their first game in over two months the Lady Mustangs registered a dominate win to kick off the second half of the school year by a final score of 70-38 over Appalachian Bible College.

The time off showed early for the Mustangs as the visiting Warriors jumped in front early before a strong finish to the first quarter fueled by a 10-3 run set the tone for the remainder of the game.  Despite the slow start MACU's defense registered a season high 23 steals to go along with a season high in assists with 17 and a season low in turnovers.

Freshmen Morgan Brock led MACU with 11 points off the bench with junior Tyeisha Williams chipping in 10 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists and Regina Woodley also reaching double figures with 10 points along with 6 rebounds.  The Warriors Allison Bowsher recorded a double double leading all scorers with 13 points to go along with a game high 15 rebounds.

"Honestly I feel blessed just to be able to come into a safe environment and step out onto the court with this special group of players. Then to be able to come out after such a long layoff, shake off some of the rust and record a win obviously makes it that much more special.  They continue to work hard and I believe we are building something here that is a lot of fun to watch and be a part of." -Coach Troxell

The Lady Mustangs return to action Friday February 5 at Patrick Henry College and make their return to Chesson Gym Saturday February 6 for Senior Night against longtime rival Christendom College.
