GREENSBORO, NC -- The Mid-Atlantic Christian University women's basketball team fought valiently in their first contest after their 25-day winter break but dropped a 87-66 decision to NCAA Division III member Greensboro College on Wednesday night inside of Hanes Gymnasium.

Greensboro (10-1) came into the contest having won four games against EMAC competition by an average of 50 points but MACU (5-5) showed fight early as they jumped out to a 16-13 lead after the first 10 minutes. MACU and Greensboro would trade buckets until Greensboro went on a 19-10 run over the last six minutes of the 2nd quarter to take a 39-35 lead at halftime.

MACU was able to pull to within one, with 3:56 left in the third quarter, when Carrington Townes hit two free throws to bring the score to 57-56. However, Greensboro managed a 9-2 to end the quarter and took a 66-58 lead going into the final quarter.

The Pride utilized the strength of their bench to outscore the Mustangs 21-8 in the final ten minutes, providing the final margin of 87-66.

The Mustangs were paced by senior guard Tyeisha Williams, who scored 30 points in just 25 minutes, on 9-for-17 shooting from the field. Williams also went 5-for-11 from behind the arc and hit seven free throws for the Mustangs. Judea Edmonds and Airyannah Moitt also scored in double digits, with 10 and 12 respectively.

The Pride were led by Ta'Keria Legette who scored 23 points on 9-of-14 shooting from the field. 

Next up for the Mustangs is their second date with EMAC rival Regent as the Royals will visit Chesson Gym on Tuesday, January 11 at 5 p.m.
