Box Score 3 Playing host to the #1 seeded Apprentice School Builders in the inaugural New South Athletic Conference Baseball tournament, the Mustangs dropped a tight contest by a score of 3-2. The Builders took control of the scoreboard striking for runs in the 5th, 6th and 7th innings with Andrew Castine picking up the win. Zac Trump led the Mustangs going 3-4 at the plate while freshmen Dalon Arrington pitched 5.1 innings giving up just one earned run in the loss.
In the final game of the day the Mustangs would face the Gators of Thomas Nelson in the NSAC Tournament's first elimination game. The Gators would take a 4-1 lead into the top of the 5th inning before the #4 seeded Mustangs would drive 4 runs across the plate to take the lead. Sophomore Jalyn Lee would connect for the first home run in the tournament in top of the 7th while leading the Mustangs at the plate going 3-4 and scoring 3 runs. Ethan Sheppard registered the win for the Mustangs in relief giving up 1 run in 4 innings while striking out 5. The Mustangs eliminated the Gators by a final of 9-8.
The Mustangs return to action in the NSAC tournament at 1 pm at Knobbs Creek as they take on the loser of the the 10 am game between Virginia State University and Apprentice School.
