Playing through adversity the Lady Mustangs Volleyball team showed up in their first match against long time rival Christendom College and fought hard throughout before finally falling in the 5th and final set of the match.
Leading throughout the first set the Mustangs would succumb to a late rally from the Crusaders that would see them lose the first set 26-24. The Mustangs would withstand another rally from the Crusaders in the second set before winning the set by a margin of 25-21. The back and forth affair would see the Crusaders win the third set 25-21 and the Mustangs rally to take the fourth set 25-22. The deciding set would reflect the match, as both teams would trade points before the Crusaders took the set and the match by a final of 15-11.
The Lady Mustangs were led by Seniors
McKenna Griffin with 12 kills and 28 digs and
Judea Edmonds with 8 kills and 27 digs. Freshmen setters
Emily Hill and
Lainie Russell combined for 23 assists.
In the second match of the day for the Lady Mustangs, the team struggled to find the same success against Lenoir CC as they fell in 3 sets, by scores of 25-12, 25-17, and 25-15. Freshmen Libero
Reign Powell led the Mustangs with 13 digs against LCC.
