HOW IT HAPPENED
Game One: MACUÂ 10, Christendom 5
The offense came early and often in game one as the Mustangs started the afternoon off lighting up the scoreboard with four runs in the first inning.
Giovanny Mendez started the scoring efforts, taking a 0-2 pitch and sending it to center field for an RBI single.
Jalyn Lee wouldn't be outdone though as the junior stepped up to the plate next and sent a triple to right that brought around two additional runs. MACU finished the inning by scoring another run off of a Christendom passed ball.
The Mustangs continued their offensive onslaught in the second and third innings, scoring three runs in each. Back-to-back fielder's choices by
Jalyn Lee and
Travis Snell registered the three runs in the second inning, followed by a
Titus Bleckley RBI single to right and a
Caleb Whitley two RBI single to center in the fourth, to round out the MACU scoring attack.
Dalon Arrington registered the win for the Mustangs. Arrington pitched three innings and gave up no runs off of just three Christendom hits, as the sophomore registered his third win of the season.
Trey Sauls,
Deacon Etheridge,
Devin Cadle, and Jay Moss all pitched an inning of relief for the Mustangs.
Game Two: MACU 11, Christendom 3
Trey Dail started the scoring off for the Mustangs in game two as the senior registered a RBI following a groundout to second base. The Mustangs scored two more in the second inning as
Will Warren registered an RBI single to center field and
Alex Miller registered an RBI off of a sacrifice fly to center field.Â
Up 3-0 heading into the third inning, MACU scored another run, this time off of a passed ball by Christendom. In the fifth, the Mustangs extended their lead to 8-3 following another RBI single from
Will Warren and RBI from
Trey Dail and
Nick Boyle.Â
The Mustangs would finish their scoring with a three-run sixth inning. Raine Franklin scored a runner off of a fielder's choice to third,
Will Warren registered his third RBI off of a single to left field and Warren would later come around to score off of another passed ball from Christendom.
MACUÂ was led on the mound by
Jalyn Lee, who registered the win. The junior threw a complete game, gave up three earned runs, struck out 12 and walked only three. The effort was not only the longest of the season for Lee but also helped the righty pick up his first win of the season.
