ETTRICK, VA -- The Mid-Atlantic Christian University baseball team continued it's winning ways as the Mustangs took down New South Athletic Conference rival Virginia State, 8-7, on Monday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Mustangs struck first in the second inning as
Alex Miller forced a bases loaded walk that scored Raine Franklin.
MACU contined the scoring in the third with two runs crossing the plate,
Jalyn Lee singled to center field to score
Travis Snell and Raine Franklin notched the first of his two RBI of the afternoon with a single to center field, to run the lead to 3-0.
Virginia State clawed back two runs, one in the third and the fifth, to bring the score to 3-2.
Jack Valachovic notched another run for the Mustangs in the sixth as the sophomore scored on an error by the Virginia State first baseman.
Alex Miller continued the scoring for MACU in the frame as he scored on another error by the Virginia State first baseman.Â
Jalyn Lee ran the score to 6-2 with a solo shot to right field in the seventh inning.
But the Trojans weren't finished as they scored three runs in the seventh to bring the score back to 6-5.
Anthony Torres created some room to breathe for the Mustangs in the top of the eighth as he scored on an error by the Virginia State catcher.
Caleb Whitley scored the final run for MACU as Raine Franklin registered a walk to bring the junior to touch home.
The Trojans again made things interesting in the bottom of the eighth, scoring two additional runs, before
Caleb Whitley shut the door to earn the save for the Mustangs.
Colin Langley (4-3) earned the win for MACU as he went 6.1 innings, giving up just one earned run off of six hits.
Caleb Whitley registered his first save of the season as the junior pitched two innings and gave up just one hit.
