Whitley's No-Hit Gem Leads Doubleheader Sweep of Grace Christian

ELIZABETH CITY, N.C. – Mid-Atlantic Christian University senior Caleb Whitley threw the first no-hitter in program history as the Mustangs swept a mid-week doubleheader against Grace Christian on Tuesday afternoon at Pasquotank County High School.

In the first contest of the day, MACU pitcher Caleb Whitley was efficient and untouchable as the senior threw the first no-hitter in program history and accomplished the feat while only throwing 81 pitches. Whitley registered eight strikeouts while walking zero as he moved his record to 3-2 on the season.
 
On the offensive side, MACU blew the game open in the second inning as Josiah Collado grounded out to second base, but Elijah Ollman came around to score the first run for the Mustangs. MACU continued the inning by scoring on a wild pitch and scoring off an RBI single to center field by Giovanny Mendez.
 
The Mustangs continued the scoring in the fourth with a sacrifice fly to center field by Anthony Torres, scoring Travis Snell.
 
MACU notched another three runs in the bottom of the fifth as Elijah Ollman scored Jalyn Lee off a single to left field. Josiah Collado continued the inning with a sacrifice fly to right field that brought around Travis Snell. Jack Valachovic finished the offensive onslaught in the inning with an RBI single to left field to bring around Elijah Ollman.
 
Nick Boyle finished the scoring for the Mustangs as the sophomore knocked in Raine Franklin with an RBI single to right field to bring around the ninth run of the contest.
 
Elijah Ollman led the offensive attack for the Mustangs as the sophomore registered a 3-for-3 outing. Jalyn Lee also registered a multiple hit outing as the junior went 2-for-3 from the plate.

In the nightcap, the Mustangs continued their strong outing as not only did three MACU pitchers combine for another shutout, but the Mustangs also notched 10 runs off 13 hits to finish off the doubleheader sweep.
 
Colin Langley registered the win to run his record to 2-3 on the season. The freshman threw four innings, gave up three hits, struck out six Grace Christian batters, while walking none. Dalon Arrington and Ethan Sheppard also threw in relief.
 
For the Mustangs, they scored a run in the first, five in the second, one in the third and three in the fourth. Jalyn Lee continued his hot streak from the plate as the junior went a perfect 4-for-4 on the evening. Alex Miller and Anthony Torres also registered multiple hits on the nightcap. Caleb Whitley followed up his outstanding pitching performance in game one with hitting a home run in the second inning to break the game open for the Mustangs.
 
Up Next
The Mustangs will return to the diamond on Wednesday as they will complete their mid-week series with Grace Christian. First pitch is scheduled for 7 pm at Pasquotank County High School.
