Game Recap: Baseball |

MACU Baseball Versus Apprentice

NEWPORT NEWS, VA -- MACU baseball opened conference play this week against Apprentice School. The Mustangs were ready to face their opponents and kept pace with them well in the first game. Unfortunately, the Mustangs were overpowered in the last innings of the game and lost. The second game was another defeat as the Mustangs could not overpower Apprentice.

The star players for the weekend of play were sophomore Colin Langley, freshman Trenton Sawyer, and freshman Darris Boswell. Colin Langley's stats were as follows: 6 IP only allowing 3 H, 1 ER and totaling 7 K's. Trenton Sawyer's stats were: 4 IP only allowing 5 H and 3 ER. Darris Boswell was the star for game 2 as he posted a respectful 4-4 performance at the plate.

Mustangs Head Coach Krehel commented saying, "Much like how the season has started so far we have been swinging the bats very well, pitching faced a humbling reality in game 1 and we lost that one in heart break fashion. But much to us coaches liking this did not hold us back, we came out swinging in game 2 after getting the gut punch in game one and these guys gave it their all, unfortunately falling short both games. We will bounce back and be ready to take on Bob Jones University this weekend at home as we have our home opening series of the season."

The Mustangs will face off against Bob Jones on their home field this weekend in a three game lineup. Come support the Mustangs!
