Soccer Victorious in Coach's Final Game
ELIZABETH CITY, NC -- The Mustangs defeated the WAU Shock, 6-3.  MACU carried a 4-3 lead at halftime and then held a scoreless frame to seal the win.  Isaac Miller contributed 3 goals and an assist.  Even though there was a celebration for the win, the men's soccer team said a farewell to their coach, Edwin Rodriguez, who is stepping away from the program for health reasons.  There was a presentation and prayer for him after the game.

Coach Rodriguez joined the program three years ago when the program was at its lowest point.  He came in, shared his love of the game, and his experience.  The program was rewarded with great student-athletes and retention.  His efforts stabilized and solidified the program.  Ribbons were worn by both teams and the referees during the game to honor his upcoming health battles.

Coach Meneely commented, "From the depths of the hearts of Mustang Athletics and the University, we thank Coach for his efforts, time, and influence on our student-athletes.  He and his family will be in our prayers."
